 Certificate Training

Oct 2019 - June 2020

This training is open to Music Therapists as well as other Creative Art Therapists and Psychotherapists interested in expanding their understandings of Trauma informed Gestalt therapy as it relates to music and vibratory phenomena.

There is always a musical involvement that goes along with social interactions, we just need to understand that which is observable. And so, from a musical perspective, we can see, hear, feel, interpret and translate movement and other communicative dynamics into a vibratory musical phenomena.  Learning to work with such cues, one opens up a world of possibilities for relating to others, much like using new yet, culturally innate, language.

Each month we will delve into a new module that can be immediately integrated into clinical practice and which will also be followed up with a monthly group supervision process.

Topics include:

*Musical presence (making your presence musical)

*Moving to sound- the "body/mind" orientation

*Meditation and movement (incorporation "a"-rhythmia)

*Vibratory phenomena and music compositions to conceptualize it

*Vibration and the elemental quality of a sonic expression vs. the compositional aspect (which is more about the human expression)

*Where East meets West: The value of esoteric concepts and understandings as they apply in our western culture

*Ayurvedic Theory and its application to sound/music

*Gestalt Theory: a seamlessly applicable psychodynamic theory for working with math arts

*The basics of contact and contact interruptions and other aspects of gestalt theory as applied to musical expression

"Life is a song. It has its own rhythm of harmony. It is a symphony of all things which exist in major and minor keys of Polarity. It blends the discords, by opposites, into harmony which unites the whole into a grand symphony of life. To learn through experience in this life, to appreciate the symphony and lessons of life and to blend with the whole, is the object of our being here."
